Ask for a bathmat if staying at the Galt House Hotel
A Louisville convention goer was injured when he slipped and fell while taking a shower. The Galt House guest blamed the hotel for not providing a bathmat in the shower.
The Plaintiff learned that other rooms had this safety feature, but for some reason his room did not. The trial court granted summary judgment dismissing the suit. On review at the Court of Appeals the case was affirmed.
The case wasn't over yet, it went up to the Kentucky Supreme Court on discretionary review where the case was remanded to the trial court for a ruling on whether this slippery situation could have been remedied by "any reasonable means," including a bath mat!
